INSTALLATION & HARDWARE FAQ'S

Is your wrought iron heavy?
Yes, compared to some products on the market that are made with tubing & sheet metal. Our pieces are real wrought iron. Mounting should be done by a professional (licensed contractor).

How do I mount your products?
We provide the decorative pyramid head screws (#8 or 1/4" lag) in the matching finish. A professional (licensed contractor) should not have a problem installing any of our pieces. There are many different types of wall anchors on the market depending on your wall type (drywall, wood, brick, etc.). Wall anchors are used to hang heavy decorative mirrors, art etc.

1/4" LAG SCREWS:

  • Installation without Wall Anchors:  Drill size for pilot hole is 9/64”.
  • Installation with Wall Anchors: The anchors are provided as a convenience only and not a recommendation. We have found they work in the most common application (drywall).  Drill size for pilot hole, 5/16”.  Do not over tighten the screws. Your application and/or contractor may require a different type of anchor.
  • Tools: To screw in the pyramid head lag screw, use a 13mm “Open” end wrench or a crescent wrench.
  • Finish Protection: To protect the finish place tape on the flat side of the tool that will face the wall mounting plate of the fixture.  During the final tightening, the tape will rub against the mounting plate of the fixture.
  • Cobre Railroad Series:  We furnish spacers to help center the screw in the mounting hole>

#8  SCREWS:

  • Wall Anchors: Anchors are provided as a convenience only and not a recommendation. We have found they work in the most common application (drywall).  We provide Simpson Strong-Tie Anchors.  They are self drilling and maybe installed in gypsum board drywall with only a screwdriver.  Easy to remove and reinstall.  Do not over tighten the screws. Your application and/or professional installer (licensed contractor) may require a different type of anchor.

 How long are the screws?

Both the #8's and 1/4 lag screws are 1 1/2" long. Shorter screws are available for applications such as mounting to a solid wood door or cabinet. Contact us at the time of your order to change the screws.
